The BMW X1 features a 1.5-litre turbo petrol engine and a 2.0-litre diesel engine, both paired with a 7-speed DCT transmission.

Exterior:

Both cars are focused on the SUV theme in compact dimensions and come with adjustable headlights and a sunroof for added luxury. The GLA gets a modern and elegant exterior design, whereas the X1 comes with a sporty and aerodynamically optimized design and it also gets the classic BMW kidney grille in aluminium matte. Moreover, the bumper of the X1 gets a sump guard and other elements in silver matt. However, the GLA gets bigger 19-inches alloy wheels as compared to the 18- inches alloy wheel of the X1.

Both cars are equipped with Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, Bluetooth streaming, and so on. When it comes to space and comfort, the GLA offers a little extra interior space and extra rear legroom as compared to the X1. However, the boot space of X1 is comparatively bigger. Both cars offer a comfy interior design and are equipped with several tech features. But GLA’s interior look more luxurious as compared to the interior of the X1.

Both cars offer solid build quality and get with multiple safety features. The Mercedes-Benz GLA comes with 7 airbags, while the BMW X1 comes with 6 airbags. Both of these come equipped with Lane Departure Warning, Emergency Brake Light Flashing, overspeed warning, Tyre Speed Monitoring System (TPMS), and Forward Collision Warning. However, the GLA gets a few additional safety features such as Puncture Repair Kit, and Automatic Emergency Braking.

The average ex-showroom price of the Mercedes-Benz GLA and BMW X1 starts at INR 46,50,000 and INR 45,90,000 respectively for the petrol variant. And, the average ex-showroom price for the diesel variant starts at INR 48,00,000 for the GLA and INR 47,90,000 for the X1.

But if you want a more performance-oriented and sporty-looking car then you can definitely consider the X1.
